Read when you have a baby … Does everyone struggle with him? What helped me get books this year? And actually finish them (there are affiliate links in the post)
Once you become a parent to close the book on reading
Reading is my lifetime love. In my childhood, I read anything on which I have my hands, and more. Even as an adult, I read a book one day and never happened without it.
But since becoming a parent – and, if we are really honest – own an iPhone – me and my two seconds, the duration of focusing on things for constant need began to love him. When you do not have time to completely absorb it, it is difficult for me to read. And let’s face it, it is quite disappointing when everyday normal obstacles come and you can’t lose yourself.
Although my kids are older now, and can be entertained for a long time, I didn’t withdraw more than a couple of holidays.
A new reading challenge for 2023

However, I miss it! As the mother of Twins, I have enough pockets of waste time that I can fill with something more useful than re -checking Instagram. And this is important to my children – who also like to read, fortunately – see me more with a book in my hand.
Influenced by people’s lists of books coming to the end of the year and new challenges for the New Year, I decided to sign up in the Goodreads Challenge and set myself a low limit of a book a month.
And guess what? So far I have read my challenge more than twice this year. And most importantly, I’m enjoying it and finding it really worrying, interesting and enriching.
This is what helped me read again.
When you have children, 10 ways to read – what helped me read.

1. The selection of books is important.
Finding things to read, I actually want to read, not everyone really helps. These are currently travel books and biographies. This site: It is also great for the second hand deals.
2. It helps to take my book everywhere.
Taking your book everywhere, around the house and out of the house means that it is always with me. Remind me to read it.
3. Arriving for my book, not for my phone.
Placing my book with me helps to reach it and not my phone. Go, doomscroll.
4.
I like paper books, but keeping a coil is sometimes very easy. I have really a basic coil – as: This one – but my eyes are on the jazire that is in fact light, such as This one.
5. to be the coil app
It is also useful to have a Kindle app on your phone! I have one iPhone: And the app is very good (if you don’t mind reading on the screen).
6. Reading together
When you have children, what helps reading is to reduce obstacles. So now we have an informal ‘readings club’ after school where we sit on the sofa and read all together (everything looks better as a club, is not? It also reads school books. –
7. Listen to the audio box
If you prefer audio boxes, I have found that: Airpods: Really helps you can do whatever you are doing around the house, and you are not tied to your phone.
8. Go to bed quickly to read
I A) I am terrible in sleeping and b) I am terrible to do anything other than watch the phone overnight. So I had to suppress myself to do so, but it’s comfortable.
9. Closing the book if I’m not enjoying it.
I also promised myself that if I was not enjoying anything, I would stop.
10. Challenge yourself!
Although a book is a short target in the month, I am now determined to defeat it. I’m gill crawshaw on Goodreads – if you are there, say hello.
